“Buy Now, Pay Later” with the Go Card
Posted on November 17th, 2010 No commentsThe GE Money card is ideal for customers who pay their entire balance within the month. This credit card provides users with great flexibility, as it’s accepted at over 28 million locations worldwide and offers several ways to avoid paying interest.
The Go MasterCard, issued by Harvey Norman, is a store card unlike others, as it offers an interest free grace period of up to 62 days on everyday purchases such as petrol, food, bills, and entertainment. Another feature that makes this card unique is an interest free promotional period of 3, 6, 12, or 24 months, during which card users are still required to make a minimum payment of 3% of the balance or $25, whichever is greater. Of course, cardholders should plan to make more than the minimum payment, to pay off each purchase more quickly. If card users will like to avoid repayments for a while, they may opt for the “Buy Now, Pay Later” promotion also provided by Harvey Norman. With this option, card users can make a purchase today, and in turn not make any repayments nor accrue any interest for 3, 6, 12, or 24 months. As well, the full balance can be paid off within the interest free period, avoiding any interest on major purchases entirely.
Account holders are charged 21.49% on purchases, and 29.49% on cash advances. Though an annual fee is not charged, the lender does charge $10 for a replacement card, and a one-time establishment fee of $25 when the account is set up. Other fees may occur such as an accounting servicing fee, cash advance fee, and a direct credit fee. It’s important to note that interest accrues on cash advances from the day the money leaves the machine.
At no cost to the cardholder, all Go MasterCard customers are automatically entered into the Go Rewards program. Card users will earn 1 point for every dollar spent, and 1.25 points for purchases made at Harvey Norman, Joyce Mayne, or Domayne stores. These points can be redeemed for gifts such as household items and electrical goods from the rewards catalogue.
To ensure customers don’t miss a payment, a direct debit option is available so that an automatic payment is transferred from the cardholder’s transaction or savings account each month. Card users may also opt for BPAY, which facilitates an electronic payment either online or over the phone. Payments can also be made via mail or at the post office; however, payment via the latter is subject to $1.5 fee.
